The "Big Dipper" Wooden Memories

I have been very fortunate to be able to work with the agent and owner of the Big Dipper in the old Geauga Lake Park. The park was closed in 2007, and the "Dipper" was sold last June in an auction. The new owner is so relunctant to do anything with the ride until it is determined whether it is going to be rebuilt on site or it is going to be moved. I approached him last year and asked if I could make some of my memory pieces from the wood for anyone that would like to buy a piece of the old history. He agreed that he would like to allow anyone that wanted to own a piece of their history and memories. The ride was built in 1925 by John A. Miller and has been at the park ever since. It is still one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in the world still standing even though it is not runnning. You can order a piece of it from this site, but nothing will be done with the order until a decision is made about the ride. As pieces are replaced or repaired, I will get the pieces to fill the orders. I have made pieces from a single pen out of the wood to a wine stopper and then the large pencil and pen set in the wooden block from the uprights of the ride. Look at each picture of each piece and determine which one you would like. You will receive a numbered authenticity card signed by the owner and myself as to where the wood is from, no matter what piece you purchase. Look them all over and decide which one you would like. I am hoping to start an entire section with just old coaster wood made into quality pieces to remember these old beauties. Time will tell how it all works out.
