Kelco Korner Gifts was started as a result of a routine sales call I was making for my full-time sales job. I was calling on the company that makes stoppers for wine bottles, and handles exotic woods that go on the top. After looking at their work, I decided that I could do that work, and my wife, a retired public school teacher, and I launched Kelco Korner Gifts.
A lathe, drill press, and sander had to be purchased, and the lower level of our home needed to be re-modeled, but it was all part of the fun! The first wine stopper was done with great frustration, but as I finished the first Brazilian Rosewood stopper, I realized that errors could be overcome, and a great "finish" covers a lot! My wife thought that sports teams and colleges would be a perfect complement to the product to give each one "identity" and so we found a source of licensed ball markers with college and sports logos. A whole new product was born!
I have filed for a patent for the stopper and sports token that I have designed. I do not attach the licensed marker on the stopper and give them free to each of you. You purchase my stopper and or base and I will give you the golf ball markers free which you attch to the top my my patented magnet system. I also do military tokens and logos for companies as the tops of the stoppers I can take a piece of an old favorite tree that has fallen and preserve it for a lifetime memory. Special orders are welcomed and priced accordingly.
Our future is intriguing as we consider what possibilities lie ahead and what directions our adventure might take. My newest adventure is the making of pens, upon which individual or company names can be engraved. I am also working on a piece of memorabilia from a local amusement park where the historical 'Big Dipper" is facing being taken down.
